Yong-Sun Bahn is a professor at the Department of Biotechnology of Yonsei University, Seoul, specialized in Medical Mycology/Fungal Molecular Biology and Genetics/Genomics. His lab studies various signal transduction systems in two major pathogenic fungal model systems, ascomycete Candida albicans and basidiomycete Cryptococcus neoformans. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.
He obtained his doctoral degree at the Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA. Before joining Soongsil University and later Yonsei University, he started his professional career as Research Associate at Duke University, Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, Durham, NC, USA. Since 2016, he is professor at Yonsei University. He is a lecturer of Applied Microbiology, Microbial Biotechnology, Medical Microbiology, Advanced Applied Microbiology.
Bahn is Editor for mBio, mSphere, PLoS ONE and the Journal of Microbiology. He has fulfilled editorial roles for Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Eukaryotic Cell (ASM Press), Mycobiology, Eukaryotic Cell, Mycobiology, Journal of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Korean Journal of Food Science and Technology.
