Thank you for being a speaker at the first-ever World Microbe Forum. This groundbreaking event is shaping up to be one of the biggest events in the microbial sciences of this year. As a speaker, your role is crucial to the scientific programming, and we are offering you resources to help guide you along the way.

 

Accessing the Virtual Platform

The digital platform will open soon to all attendees. Conveners and speakers of invited sessions receive complimentary registration. If you have not registered, please follow the steps for the Convener and Speaker registration. For the live and interactive sessions, Projection AV will send a Zoom link for each session, during the week of June 14. Save this link to your calendar for the day of your session. Thirty minutes before the start of your session, click the Zoom link and log into the virtual platform. Convener and Speaker Registration

Setting Up an ASM User Account

Conveners and speakers of invited sessions will receive complimentary registration. You must be registered inorder to gain access to the virtual platform. To gain access to the virtual platform, use your ASM user account name and password. It is important to use the email in your registration record as your primary email in the ASM user account. If you don't have an ASM user account, set up your FREE account now to avoid delay in accessing the virtual platform.

Registration

When you register, you have the option to choose as a Member, Non-Member, or Student. Regardless of your selection, you will see a “$0 charge” in the cart at the end of registration. If you see a charge at the end of the registration, your primary email address in your ASM user account must be different than the email in your registration record. Please check and update your primary email in your ASM user account to match the registration email. View the tutorial on how to add a primary email address to your ASM profile.

The invited speaker entitlements do not apply to iPosters, Rapid Fire, and Oral Abstract Presenters in On-Demand Symposia.

Session Formats

World Microbe Forum program will be presented in live, interactive and on-demand sessions.

Live Sessions (Meet-the-Experts and After Chats)

  • Live sessions will be presented fully in real-time. Speakers will present live during the date and time listed in their invitation and take questions via video from the audience.
  • Live and interactive sessions will be offered for on-demand the day after the presentations air.
  • Projection AV will send a Zoom link to use on day of the session, during the week of June 14.

Interactive Sessions

  • Interactive sessions will have a live component following the recorded presentations, including video or text Q&A with presenters and text chatting with other attendees.
  • Speakers will have the ability to answer text questions during the recorded portion and respond on video during the live Q&A segment at the end of the recorded presentations.
  • Speakers will pre-record their presentations prior to the meeting, and their recorded talks will be aired the date and time listed in their invitation.
  • Speakers will present during the day and time of their presentation to take live Q&A chat from meeting attendees, during and after the recorded talks air.
  • Projection AV will send a Zoom link to use on the day of the session, during the week of June 14.

On-Demand Sessions

  • On-demand sessions are recorded presentations and attendees may view the sessions at any time.
  • On-demand session speakers will record their talks before the actual meeting and will not be present the day their session is released to meeting attendees for viewing.
  • The meeting’s AV partner, Projection AV, will email invited speakers to schedule a time to record their talks on April 26.
  • The recording window dates are April 26-June 7. Speakers must reserve a recording time for their sessions by Friday, May 14.
  • Live and interactive sessions will be offered for on-demand the day after the presentations air. 
  • New on-demand sessions will be released each day and be available for 24/7 viewing
  • FEMS on-demand sessions will be released daily at 6 a.m. CET.
  • ASM on-demand sessions will be released daily at 6 a.m. EST

Over 4 days and across all time zones, attendees can tune into the 500+ scientific sessions. Plus, speakers can search their sessions and other events at World Microbe Forum.

Embargo Policy

Speaker presentation discussions with the press may not be published until after the day and time of the actual presentation. This policy remains in effect until June 24, 2021. Check out the embargo policy and other speaker and convener related questions for more details.
