ASM Award
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Abstract Award for Scientists from Low and Low-Middle Income Countries
This award is offered to scientists in low- and low-middle-income countries who would otherwise be unable to attend the meeting. Many awardees work in areas with a high burden of disease and would benefit greatly from the scientific content presented at the meeting, as well as gain significant value from networking with their colleagues from around the world.
Eligibility
To qualify for consideration, the applicant must be:
- A current ASM member at the time of World Microbe Forum.
- A resident of a low-income or low-middle-income country, as defined by the World Bank.
- A presenting author on an accepted abstract to World Microbe Forum.
Please note: Applications are to be submitted prior to knowing whether your abstract has been accepted for World Microbe Forum.

Eligibility
To qualify for consideration, the applicant must be:
- Be an early career scientist and thus should either have obtained highest academic degree (Bachelor, Master or PhD) less than five years prior the application deadline, or be a PhD student*
- Be an active microbiologist;
- Be the first author of an accepted abstract in one of the FEMS topics
- Attend the World Microbe Forum and be a registered participant
